How did we come to speak of ourselves (and relate to others) in behavioral science terms? When did political ideologies become "attitudes" and bigotry a matter of "implicit bias"? Why do we often feel "triggered" now, or, as parents, worry about "developmental milestones"? I am fascinated with the global circulation and popularization of new forms of knowledge intervetion produced by experimental psychology, neuroscience, and psychiatry. My work follows scientific concepts models, and tools as they travel from the lab to the world, across borders and between institutions, examining how they intersect with the lives of soldiers and workers, voters and children, as they redefine human nature.
